Born and raised in the hinterland of India, she regularly watched her grandfather offering treatment to villagers who were bitten by snakes or other ailments with herbs and roots grown in their backyard. She was fascinated by this world of natural products and herbs and this also laid a path for her career in medicine. Her grandfather and father offered unstinted support and ensured that she received the best education in ayurveda.
She graduated from Bangalore-based Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, considered one of top universities in India for medical education and specialised in internal medicine. After degree, she was trained under Dr Ganesh Kumar, a senior and well-known ayurveda physician from Bangalore, for over a year.
