SAS Viya Migration Expert (Architect/Developer)

SAS Viya Migration Expert will be a senior technical lead responsible for the end-to-end migration of SAS 9.4 content (programs, jobs, reports) to the SAS Viya platform. This role involves using the “Viya Migration Accelerator” to perform code transformation, output validation, and GxP validation support.

Key Responsibilities

1. Content Assessment & Planning: Conduct detailed code and content analysis to identify compatibility issues (X commands, metadata LIBNAMEs, etc.) and create a Migration Blueprint.
2. Migration Execution (The “Accelerator”): Lead the migration of code, data (CAS), and schedules. This includes converting SAS 9 legacy code to Viya-compatible syntax, moving SAS datasets to CAS, and migrating jobs to Viya Job Execution.
3. Validation & Testing: Implement rigorous regression testing. Ensure migrated programs produce identical outputs for regulatory compliance (FDA/EMA submissions). Conduct side-by-side comparisons between SAS 9 and Viya.
4. Pharma-Specific Validation: Develop and execute IQ/OQ/PQ test scripts and use the “Traceability Matrix Generator” to ensure GxP compliance.
5. Automation Development: Contribute to the development of the “Viya Migration Accelerator” platform to automate repetitive transformation tasks.
6. Client Training: Provide training and knowledge transfer to client SAS developers on the new Viya interface and best practices.

Essential Skills & Experience

1. 7+ years of experience in SAS programming and development.
2. Proven track record of at least 2-3 SAS 9 to Viya migration projects.
3. Deep expertise in SAS 9.4 (Base, STAT, Macros, DI Studio, EG) and SAS Viya (SAS Studio, CAS, Job Execution).
4. Strong experience with SASPy, sasctl, and SAS CLI for automation.
5. Knowledge of Python and open-source integration within Viya.
6. Must have experience in the Life Sciences/Pharma industry with a strong grasp of GxP validation and 21 CFR Part 11.

Desirable Certifications

1. SAS Advanced Programming Professional.
2. SAS Viya Migration or Administration Certification.
3. Experience with the SAS 9 Content Assessment Tool.
